It’s Time to Trick or Treat

⭐️Extend-a-book:  Another way to extend the use of a singable book is to pair the visuals/pages of the book with an additional song/activity!

📙After reading “Guess Who? Boo to You!” by Katie Woolley and Grasya Oliyko (psst…it rhymes, so you can make it singable/chantable!), there are so many ways you can use the adorable visuals in the book:

❓Practice “who” questions. “Who opened the door?” “Who knocked on the door?”.

🚪Model or sign the word “open” when opening the door flap on the page to reveal who is in the house.

🍬Model or sign the word “more” to ask for another “treat” at the door.

🎶I made up a song to go with it, to the tune of “Popeye the Sailor Man”:

It’s time to trick or treat

We’ll find some candy to eat

We’ll knock on your door

And ask for more

It’s time to trick or treat!

🥁Use it with claves, a drum, woodblock, rhythm sticks, or physically knock on the door with your hand!

🎃Make a bucket/basket visual and pictures of candy/toys (or whatever the child is interested in!) and use it to practice the routine of “trick or treating”.

What other ways can you use this book in your home, sessions, or groups?
