The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything
🎃🥁I LOVE incorporating instruments with singable books! Here are just a few of my favorite instruments I use with, “The Little Old Lady Who Was Not afraid of Anything” by Linda D. Williams:
🎃Floor Tom Drum
🎃Quack Stick
🎃Egg Shaker
🎃Castanet
🎃Guiro
🎃Microphone/pre-recorded button
🎃Wood block
(This book is also perfect for using movements with each sound mentioned in it!)

Cows in the Kitchen
🐄Want to know one of my go-to singable books for practicing the core word “in”?
Check out “Cows in the Kitchen”! The @childsplaybooks story illustrated by
by @airlieanderson is PERFECT for this! It’s also great for animal identification and “where” questions.
In the club, I’ve created visuals for you to download and use while you read/sing the book 🧡!
Earth Day, Birthday!
Earth Day is coming up and I highly recommend the singable book, “Earth Day, Birthday” to help spark discussions re: how to take care of our planet. Here’s how I use it in sessions:
5 activities for Valentine’s Day
💌Before, after, or while you’re reading a Valentine’s Day singable book…try one of these 5 activities!
The Mitten
Back in my private practice days, I was taught a little tune (set to the melody of “The Farmer in the Dell”) to accompany, “The Mitten” by @janbrett1 ❄️.
🐇It’s a great go-to for sequencing, working on the preposition “in”, animal identification, answering who questions (“Who squeezed in the mitten?”), big vs. little (The mitten gets bigger with each animal added!) and more!
✋This year, I paired it with my #winter sensory bin and hid the animals amongst the pom-poms, mittens, and snowflakes as an extra fun challenge! The students searched through the bin with the tweezers (great for #finemotor control practice), scoop, and/or their fingers to find the animals to add to the mitten.
🧶And to make it even more exciting, the intern I’m supervising this year is incredible at knitting and she actually handmade a knitted mitten to use with the song - HOW AMAZING IS THAT?!
📘So many fun ways to use this classic book in your #earlychildhood , #languagetherapy , or #musictherapy sessions! Visuals, core word lists, and how I use the book are available in the Singable Book Club!
Ps. I fully realize I need to paint my nails (this polish is still hanging on from our family photos…back in OCTOBER lol)
Mail Myself to You
Need a fun and quick movement song to use with your students?
“Mail Myself to You” is a song by Woody Guthrie that was made into a singable book. It’s PERFECT to use this time of year when you’re talking about gift-giving, wrapping presents, etc.! The greatest gift of all is YOU!
