Props for Singable Books: Part 3

Part 3 of my “Props for Singable Books” series!

“Inch by Inch”: Pair with a Flower Garden Building Kit or better yet, have the students plant their own REAL garden and watch them grow each week!

Speaking of gardens…

Over in the Garden”: This felt bug garden set is super conducive to using alongside this book. Have the students create their own insects out of felt and add them to the scene! Additionally, you can make numbers out of felt to bring in the counting aspect of the book for math goals.

Speaking of insects…

“The Jazz Fly”: I found a set of mini bug figurines, paired it with a set of mini instruments, and voila! You have manipulatives to accompany the book!

Moving on to animals, there are two that come to my mind first when I want to incorporate a farm animal theme: the classic, “Old MacDonald” (the Moo Cow Can “instrument” and Pig Guiro are perfect for this!) and the “Farmyard Jamboree” (the Melissa and Doug Animal puzzle is a simple puzzle with pegs that help the students grasp the pieces).

What are some of your fav props to use for these singable books?
